Google is expanding Gemini in Chrome to users across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and additional regions starting June 10, 2026. The rollout provides desktop and iOS users with an AI-powered browsing assistant capable of summarizing content and comparing information across multiple tabs. Deep integrations with Google Workspace allow users to schedule Calendar events, verify Maps data, draft Gmail messages, and query YouTube video content without navigating away from their current page.
New functionality includes Nano Banana 2, which enables image transformation via text prompts in the Gemini side panel. The system also supports persistent context from past conversations and Personal Intelligence, a feature that connects Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search for personalized responses. Built-in security measures include protection against prompt injection (malicious input to bypass model rules) and mandatory confirmation prompts for sensitive actions.
