Google will rebrand the Fitbit app as the "Google Health app" on May 19, 2026, consolidating wellness data into a single platform powered by the Gemini AI model. The update introduces the "Google Health Coach," which uses natural language to suggest workouts and summarize medical records.
The redesigned interface features four tabs—Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health—with customizable dashboards and expanded data integrations via Health Connect, Apple Health, and Google Health APIs. Users in the US can also upload medical records to track lab results and vitals. The release includes the new "Fitbit Air" tracker, designed for 24/7 wear.
Google specified that health data will not be used for advertising, and users maintain control over data deletion. Existing Fitbit users will migrate automatically, while Google Fit users will receive migration invitations later in 2026.
