Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on June 12, 2026, a series of upgrades to the state's policing infrastructure and investigation capabilities. During a review meeting of the Home Department, the Chief Minister approved the launch of 'Safeguard MP,' an AI-powered platform designed to enhance the safety of women, elderly citizens, and other vulnerable populations. The initiative is part of a broader commitment to provide police forces with modern resources to address evolving criminal threats.
To combat the rising prevalence of cybercrime and the malicious use of artificial intelligence, the government authorized the hiring of IT consultants and cyber experts to bolster the State Cyber Cell. Additionally, Chief Minister Yadav introduced a new investigation allowance to support officers with expenses related to evidence collection, digital forensics, site visits, and the transportation of witnesses and victims. This financial support aims to ensure operational efficiency during active criminal investigations.
The administration also outlined plans for the long-term development of police capabilities, including the creation of a dedicated state Police Selection and Recruitment Board and the deployment of mobile Scene of Crime units at the district level. Beyond routine policing, the meeting addressed preparatory infrastructure for the Simhastha 2028 religious gathering in Ujjain, emphasizing that control rooms and related facilities should be permanent structures. Further proposals discussed included advanced training for the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Special Task Force (STF), and Hawk Force.
