The Maharashtra government has introduced its State AI Policy 2026, a strategic framework designed to accelerate the adoption and development of artificial intelligence across the state. The initiative places a significant emphasis on creating local opportunities, with an explicit target of generating 1.5 lakh jobs related to AI development and deployment.
To catalyze this ecosystem, the policy includes a dedicated Rs 500 crore fund specifically aimed at supporting startups. Beyond financial backing, the policy focuses on enhancing technical infrastructure and providing training programs to equip the local workforce with necessary skills. It also includes specific incentives for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to integrate AI solutions into their operations, while maintaining a commitment to ethical AI usage standards.
