Clef is the first decision model that Cloudflare trained in-house: instead of writing text, it returns a yes/no answer, a choice, or a score with a probability. It launched together with the smaller and faster Clef Flash, and it is the larger of the two, aimed at accuracy. Based on Alibaba's Qwen model, it understands text, images, and video together, and it reads long documents in one go. Developers can plug it into their own products through Cloudflare Workers AI, and because it uses the same request format as Jev, services already running a decision model can switch to it easily. It was also released so that anyone can download and run it themselves, and Cloudflare says its responses are very fast and consistent. Pricing is set in Cloudflare's own usage units, which makes direct comparison with other models harder, and it costs more than Clef Flash from the same family.
