Adobe Adds AI Video Tools
- •Adobe adds timeline-based generative video and audio tools to Premiere ahead of IBC 2026
- •After Effects AI Assistant enters public beta for project-wide motion design and technical tasks
- •Premiere receives 2026 Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy after 35 years in post-production
Adobe announced new AI-powered tools for Premiere and After Effects on September 8, 2026, ahead of IBC 2026, adding timeline-based generation, audio cleanup, creative assistant features and color controls for professional video editors. Premiere also received an Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement at the 2026 Emmys, with the Television Academy recognizing 35 years of the editing software’s role in television post-production.
Premiere’s new Generative Media Tool lets editors create video and sound effects directly inside the timeline instead of leaving a project to search libraries or websites. Editors select Generative Media, choose where the result should appear, describe the needed asset, and receive context-aware, fully editable video or audio clips. Adobe said users can choose Adobe Firefly or partner models including Google Veo, Kling, Runway and Luma.
The Generate Video feature fills gaps in a timeline by using reference frames sampled from the project to better match surrounding footage. Generate Sound Effects uses Adobe’s commercially safe audio model and allows voice guidance for rhythm, timing and intensity. Generate Soundscape, now in beta, analyzes up to 15 seconds of video to produce timed ambience and sound-effect layers. Generate Music, also in beta, creates original music with multiple variations, tempo controls, looping controls and synchronization rights across any type of media.
Adobe said its 2026 Creators’ Toolkit Report found nearly nine in ten creators accelerate business or audience growth when they use creative AI tools like Adobe’s, while an overwhelming majority say final creative decision-making must remain in their hands. Premiere’s AI audio tools, now in public beta, include Enhance Audio for separate control of dialogue, music, ambience and sound effects in one clip; Separate Crosstalk for splitting two overlapping speakers into independent tracks; and Dynamic Auto Ducking for balancing dialogue, music and other elements without manual keyframes.
After Effects added AI Assistant in public beta for motion design workflows. The assistant works across an entire project, not just the open composition, and can respond to plain-language requests to reorganize large projects with thousands of layers, repair technical issues, create motion effects such as expressions without code, inspect compositions and footage, and turn work that often takes hours into minutes.
Premiere’s Color Mode beta added Style Modules such as Vignette and Midtones, plus an Auto Color tool that corrects color temperature and exposure for a clip, custom group or entire sequence in one click. Adobe also redesigned the Properties and Effects panels for faster navigation and made Frame.io Mounted Storage available to all accounts, allowing editors to stream full-resolution media from the cloud into a Premiere timeline without manual downloads or crowded local storage.
