Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, is launching a new, fully online AI Endorsement program designed to train K-12 teachers on integrating AI tools into their classrooms. Supported by a $20,000 grant from the Glenn W. Bailey Foundation, the curriculum consists of four graduate-level courses: Foundations of AI, Ethical and Responsible AI, AI for Teaching and Learning, and AI Integration and Leadership. Each course spans 7½ weeks and carries a tuition cost of $975 per course. The program received formal approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in June and is scheduled to accept its first cohort of students starting August 24.

This initiative aims to address a significant gap in professional development identified by a 2024 RAND-CRPE study, which noted that while 60 percent of school districts planned to train staff on AI use, structured programs remained scarce. The Pennsylvania Department of Education created this specific credential to align with existing state endorsements for fields like gifted education and autism support. By utilizing an online format, the college intends to provide training to educators across diverse urban, suburban, and rural regions of the state. The program anticipates reaching approximately 5,000 students and educators throughout Pennsylvania over time as the initiative expands.
