Apple Launches Japanese Siri AI Beta
  • •Apple launched the Japanese-language Siri AI beta on October 26, 2026.
  • •The beta works across five operating systems and supports screen understanding and actions across multiple apps.
  • •Some features have daily usage limits; Apple plans paid access with expanded limits.

Apple launched the Japanese-language beta of its AI assistant, Siri AI, on October 26, 2026. It is available on iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2. Siri AI can find information in messages and email, understand on-screen content, and help carry out actions across multiple apps.

Built on Apple Intelligence, this version of Siri was announced by Apple in June. It can recognize personal context and on-screen content, respond to spoken or typed requests, and handle follow-up questions using the conversation so far. For example, it can find weekend plans with a friend in messages, add an ingredient assigned to the user in a related email to a shopping list in Reminders, or draft an email. Integrations with third-party apps include directions in Yahoo! Transit and adding tasks to FirstSeed Tasks.

Visual Intelligence, which interprets images, is available on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. One example is asking about a poster seen through an iPhone camera and adding an event listed on it to Calendar. Writing tools can generate or revise drafts based on instructions. In email and messages, they can reflect the punctuation and tone typical of the user's exchanges with the recipient.

The system uses the third-generation Apple Foundation Models, built in collaboration with Google. Apple says its technical foundation combines models that run on devices with server models on Private Cloud Compute, Apple's privacy-focused cloud computing system. Use requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible device and a supported language setting; people under 13 cannot use it. Some features that rely on server models have daily usage limits, and Apple plans to offer paid access with expanded limits for those features.
