Claude Adds Google Workspace Sidebar
- •Claude for Google Workspace enters public beta on all paid Claude plans
- •A sidebar lets users prompt Claude to edit files in Docs, Slides and Sheets
- •Anthropic is launching connectors to create and edit Workspace files from Claude
Anthropic has opened Claude for Google Workspace in public beta for users on all paid Claude plans, allowing them to work with Claude inside Google Docs, Slides and Sheets. The add-on places Claude in a sidebar where users can prompt it to edit their files, in a setup similar to Google’s Gemini sidebar.
Anthropic is also launching connectors that let users create and edit Google Workspace files directly in Claude. The report does not specify when those connectors will be available or which Workspace tasks they support. The add-on and connectors bring Claude’s file editing into Google’s productivity apps and into Claude itself, respectively, according to the report.
The Verge reported the announcement on October 7, 2026, at 4:26 AM GMT+9, in a story by Stevie Bonifield. The public beta is available across all paid Claude plans; the report does not give a price or say whether free Claude users will receive access.
