Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 became available on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS on October 7, 2026. Anthropic says it is the fastest and most efficient model in the Claude 5.5 family, designed for subagents and high-volume, cost-sensitive work. It costs around 75% less than Claude Haiku 4.5 for most tasks.

On Amazon Bedrock, customers can keep data within AWS infrastructure with regional data residency and use AWS Identity and Access Management for access control, AWS CloudTrail for audit, Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, and Amazon Bedrock Guardrails. Usage is billed through AWS. Claude Platform on AWS provides access through the AWS Management Console to Anthropic’s native platform, APIs, features, and console experience, with AWS billing and authentication.

Haiku 5.5 is Anthropic’s most capable Haiku model across coding, tool use, computer use, and agentic tasks. It is the first Haiku model with effort controls, letting users adjust cost against intelligence for each task. Anthropic describes uses including routing requests, reviewing code, classifying and summarizing documents, answering knowledge-base questions, and handling simple conversations. It also supports high-resolution images, multi-step tool use, browser and desktop tasks, and small code changes across multiple files.

Anthropic says Haiku 5.5 can work alongside Claude Opus 5.5: Opus plans work and handles difficult reasoning, while Haiku performs quick, well-defined tasks at scale. Multiple Haiku subagents can run in parallel. On Amazon Bedrock, users can try the model in the console Playground or call it through the Anthropic Messages API, Invoke API, or Converse API. The post lists Python 3.10+, Boto3, the Anthropic SDK, and the Amazon Bedrock Token Generator among the prerequisites.

Availability includes US, EU, Australia, Japan, and global inference profiles, as well as both listed endpoints in AWS GovCloud (US). The post directs readers to AWS documentation for supported Regions and AWS pricing information.
