Counsel Health, an AI-native primary care company, launched a weight management program with Eli Lilly that combines obesity medications, on-demand physician care and AI-based monitoring. The program is available through Counsel and LillyDirect, Lilly’s direct-to-consumer digital pharmacy. Counsel members in 44 states can consult board-certified physicians about side effects, dosing, treatment progress or other health questions. After a digital intake, physicians assess eligibility and create personalized treatment plans; they can prescribe Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo. Membership also includes primary care support for chronic conditions.
Counsel says its AI-based care model allows the company to offer access at lower cost than traditional weight management programs. Counsel Signature costs $300 per year for unlimited care, or members can pay $29 per physician visit; the platform’s AI solutions are free. Members can ask the AI questions at any time or reach a physician, typically within minutes, executives said. CEO and founder Muthu Alagappan said fragmented systems make it hard for patients to manage chronic conditions and that weight management care should account for patients’ broader health histories and lifestyles.
The program’s launch comes as 11% of U.S. adults took GLP-1 medications for weight loss in 2026, up from 3% in 2024. Counsel said only 32% of GLP-1 users remain on therapy at the end of year one, falling to 15% by year two. The company designed the program to provide ongoing medical support alongside prescriptions, with AI proactively checking on patients’ progress and side effects.
