Cover Genius Launches Agentic Embedded Protection for AI Commerce
- •Cover Genius launches embedded protection for AI agents that surfaces offers inside chat conversations
- •Survey finds fewer than 7% of consumers want AI agents to buy protection autonomously, favoring human-approved workflows
- •Platforms can go live in weeks rather than quarters, with coverage across 60+ countries and 50 US states
Cover Genius, a global embedded protection infrastructure provider, launched its first embedded protection product built for agentic commerce, letting AI agents surface context-aware protection directly inside consumer conversations. The company says the product allows platforms to serve global consumers and increase conversion with minimal regulatory overhead and no redirection out of the chat.
Protection is embedded into conversational flows across transaction types, including flight delay payouts, travel cancellations, ticket refunds and retail purchase protection. Cover Genius offers two deployment models: AI platforms can embed personalized, context-aware protection directly into native conversational workflows, or use payment-level integrations to deliver embedded protection products at scale.
CEO and Co-Founder Angus McDonald said building trust at checkout is critical to conversion in emerging commerce channels, and that the company's agentic protection infrastructure simplifies regulatory and technical complexity so AI platforms can launch protection capabilities in weeks rather than quarters.
Cover Genius's 2026 Embedded Protection Market Research Report found that 87% of shoppers weigh potential risks before purchasing and 81% engage seriously when protection is offered. While 78% of consumers are open to AI agents making bookings or purchases on their behalf, fewer than 7% want an agent to select or buy paid protection autonomously. Consumers overwhelmingly favor an agent-recommended, human-approved workflow, with 82% of travel bookers open to AI assisting with bookings.
In the workflow the company describes, the AI agent passes unstructured session context such as a multi-city itinerary or cross-border shipment to Cover Genius, which surfaces a relevant protection offer with pricing and regulatory disclosures inside the chat. Depending on the deployment model, protection is either automatically included on eligible transactions or presented for native approval at checkout. Digital claims and post-purchase servicing are handled by XCover, Cover Genius's consumer-facing platform, which is rated 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from more than 78,000 verified reviews.
According to the company, its infrastructure is active across 60+ countries and all 50 US states, works with 200+ merchant partners and gives direct access to 50+ carrier partners, holds SOC 2 certification, and has protected over 73 million consumers across 240 million policies.
