AI Platform Sprawl Limits Enterprise Returns
- •FICO report finds 8.2% of organizations use a single shared AI deployment platform
- •Survey of more than 1,000 executives finds 71.2% partial adoption and one in five working toward unification
- •Security and data challenges hinder agentic AI returns; Salesforce, Databricks and AWS introduced governance tools
Only 8.2% of organizations have adopted a single shared AI deployment platform, while siloed systems are restricting AI gains and adding complexity, according to FICO’s State of Responsible AI 2026 report. Corinium conducted the survey for FICO with more than 1,000 senior technology, data and risk executives. Just one in five organizations are actively working toward a unified platform, and 71.2% have partially adopted single platforms. Scott Zoldi, FICO’s chief analytics officer and a report contributor, said organizations struggle to agree on one standard for AI development and deployment across business units.
Zoldi said an AI standard should define development and deployment components, including algorithms, explainability, monitoring and how regulatory requirements will be met. A unified platform can then put that standard into practice, a step he linked to improving return on investment (ROI). He said governance teams currently stop 50% to 90% of AI deployments when they are unsound or unmonitored.
Only 5% of surveyed organizations said AI significantly exceeded their ROI expectations; more than 37% said it met expectations, and roughly 43% said it somewhat exceeded them. Around 40% cited security concerns as a barrier to returns from agentic AI, while roughly 38% identified data integration and quality challenges. Zoldi urged CIOs to align leadership around a standard and make technology purchases based on business value, warning that extra tools and shadow projects can add costs, including hyperscaler token use without business value. Salesforce and Databricks launched AI agent governance features earlier in 2026, while AWS introduced its Agent Registry platform to help build and govern agents.
