fal Launches FLUX 3 Max Video Generator
  • •fal and Black Forest Labs launch FLUX 3 Max, which generates a 10-second video in an average of 12.45 seconds.
  • •The model supports 5–20-second videos and up to 10 keyframes; fal is offering a 75% discount for 3 weeks after launch.
  • •fal says FLUX 3 Max is about 22 times faster than Seedance 2.5 at the same quality score in its benchmark.

fal launched FLUX 3 Max on the 20th local time, a video-generation model developed with German AI company Black Forest Labs. fal says the model focuses on customized creation and generates a 10-second video in about 12 seconds. In fal’s comparison, it produced video at the same quality score as Seedance 2.5 while running about 22 times faster.

In fal’s results, FLUX 3 Max generated a 10-second video in an average of 12.45 seconds, compared with 277.80 seconds for Seedance 2.5. The two models received the same quality score in fal’s benchmark. fal says post-training and inference optimization improved video quality and speed over FLUX 3 Video, raising FLUX 3’s quality by 50 Elo points while improving generation speed by 11.5 times.

fal cited near-photorealistic rendering, natural movement, cinematic lighting and detailed textures as strengths. Black Forest Labs also highlighted voice expression, physically convincing motion, sound effects and original scene generation. In an Artificial Analysis evaluation, FLUX 3 Max scored 1139 Elo, placing it alongside Seedance 2.5 among the leading models; MiniMax H3 scored 1124. The uncertainty ranges overlap, making it difficult to distinguish the leading models. The evaluation covers preferences for image-based video generation, so its results may not generalize to overall performance or text-based tasks.

FLUX 3 Max supports text-to-video, which generates video from a written description, and image-to-video, which starts from an image. Image-based generation can also specify an ending image. Users can direct scene progression with keyframes, placing up to 10 images at key moments. Videos can be 5–20 seconds long, with a default resolution of 720p and an option to upscale to 1080p. The model supports landscape, portrait and square aspect ratios, with audio generation either enabled or disabled.

fal said it will offer a 75% discount for 3 weeks after launch. Regular API pricing is $0.17 per second at 720p and $0.29 per second at 1080p, making a 10-second video cost $1.70 and $2.90, respectively. Content created through the API can be used commercially under the terms of service.
