FAR.AI opened its first international office in Singapore on July 30, 2026, creating the nonprofit research organization’s first physical presence outside the United States. The office will serve as FAR.AI’s Asia Center of Excellence and support practical AI safety research, trusted cross-sector collaboration, and long-term work across the Asia-Pacific region.

FAR.AI said Singapore was chosen because of its public institutions, maturing AI ecosystem, and role in convening government, academia, and industry on international AI governance. Edward Yee, FAR.AI’s Chief Growth Officer, said the organization had already built relationships with the Infocomm Media Development Authority, the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, and the National University of Singapore, and now aims to expand through research, convening, and partnerships.

FAR.AI and IMDA have previously held joint events for Singapore’s AI ecosystem and are now examining risks from advanced AI systems. Arisa Siong, Director for Tech Policy at IMDA’s BizTech Group, said the collaboration will conduct technical assessments of chatbot persuasive behavior and develop systematic evaluations to understand possible impacts on vulnerable users and support evidence-based policymaking in Singapore.

FAR.AI has also worked with CSA on agentic AI security research, including the discussion paper “Securing Agentic AI,” presented at Singapore International Cyber Week last year. CSA’s Gayle Goh said the partnership is intended to improve understanding and management of risks as AI capabilities accelerate, and to support safe and secure deployment of AI in Singapore.

FAR.AI said the Singapore office will deepen research collaborations, expand convening work, and develop partnerships across Asia-Pacific. The organization, founded in 2022, was selected by the European Commission’s AI Office to lead technical safety research for EU AI Act implementation, focused on CBRN risk modeling and evaluation, and it works with frontier AI companies including OpenAI and government partners in multiple jurisdictions.
