Google announced a suite of new AI-powered tools for the Google Workspace ecosystem on May 19, 2026. The update introduces conversational voice capabilities across Gmail, Docs, and Keep, alongside a dedicated image editing application called Google Pics. Additionally, the company is expanding its AI Inbox functionality for subscribers and previewing Gemini Spark, a new personal AI agent designed to execute tasks on behalf of users across their digital workflows.
New voice features allow users to interact with Gmail, Docs, and Keep through natural speech. Gmail Live enables instant inbox queries, while Docs Live acts as a co-writer capable of structuring documents and pulling information from Drive, Chat, and the web. The Keep integration supports unstructured voice input to generate organized lists and notes. These tools will be available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and business customers in preview this summer.
Google Pics, powered by the Nano Banana model, serves as a new image creation and editing tool. It features object segmentation for precise modifications, such as resizing or changing elements like clothing colors, and advanced text editing tools that preserve original fonts and design styles. The app includes real-time collaboration on shareable canvases and will integrate directly into Slides and Drive. It is currently limited to trusted testers, with a broader rollout for Pro and Ultra subscribers scheduled for this summer.
The AI Inbox service, previously limited to Google AI Ultra subscribers, is now expanding to Google AI Plus and Pro users in the U.S. New features include automatically generated draft replies for quick correspondence, direct surfacing of relevant files like Sheets or Slides near to-do items, and improved task management controls for clearing inbox clutter. Finally, Gemini Spark is being introduced as a 24/7 personal agent that functions within the Gemini app. It is designed to navigate digital life and perform actions under user direction, with built-in safety prompts requiring confirmation before high-stakes tasks such as sending emails or scheduling calendar events.
