Hitachi Solutions announced Opnova, a PC-operation automation tool developed by US-based Opnova, on October 28, 2026, and began offering it on October 29. The tool lets users create and run AI agents that recognize the state and context of a PC screen in real time and operate the computer autonomously. The agents can handle workflows across multiple systems without changing existing procedures.
Opnova agents can adapt autonomously when screen layouts change and perform tasks across legacy systems and multiple applications, regardless of whether those systems have APIs or what their environments are. Guardrails (controls that limit unintended actions) are designed to prevent unintended processing and malfunctions. To create an agent, users can provide natural-language instructions or record screen operations; AI then generates and transcribes the operating steps. Users can edit that text to revise the procedure. A cloud dashboard displays each agent’s access permissions, execution history and usage.
Fees depend on the number of registered tasks and executions. Hitachi Solutions says this pricing makes costs easier to forecast based on usage and helps limit unexpected increases. Organizations can start small and expand deployment company-wide later.
As an example, Hitachi Solutions describes automating the reconciliation of invoices with SAP data. An agent extracts required information from unstructured data (information without a predefined format), such as supplier PDFs and Excel files, and checks it against invoice records in SAP. It then creates an Excel report showing discrepancies and sends the staff member a review request by email through Outlook.
A large European retailer cited by Hitachi Solutions operates more than 5,700 stores and processes tens of thousands of supplier invoices each year. By automating invoice reconciliation against SAP data, it saves more than 3,000 work hours annually. Hitachi Solutions says conventional automation could stop working when screen layouts changed, or fail to connect with legacy systems that lacked APIs. The company says these challenges have contributed to rising expectations for workflow automation using AI agents. The reported savings figure comes from Hitachi Solutions.
