Honor X80 Pro Max Adds AI Smart Grip Feature
- •Honor introduces an AI-powered Smart Grip feature for the new X80 Pro Max smartphone.
- •The system detects hand and thumb positions to dynamically reposition call buttons for easier access.
- •The X80 Pro Max currently holds exclusive access to this feature, as announced on June 25, 2026.
The Honor X80 Pro Max now includes an AI Smart Grip feature, marking the first time this capability has appeared on an Honor smartphone. The tool detects the position of a user's hand and thumb to enhance one-handed call management. Similar to the functionality introduced in the Huawei Mate 80 flagship last year, the system dynamically adjusts call interfaces to match the user's specific grip.
The feature utilizes artificial intelligence to identify whether the user is holding the device with their left or right hand. It also measures the vertical position of the user's thumb to display answer and hang-up buttons in a reachable area along the side of the screen. This adaptation allows users to accept calls instantly without needing to adjust their hand position or apply significant physical pressure to the display.
To activate this functionality, users can navigate to the settings menu on the X80 Pro Max and enable the "AI at your fingertips" toggle. Additionally, the phone application must be configured to show call notifications as banners. As of June 25, 2026, Honor has not announced plans to expand this feature to other devices in its lineup, leaving it exclusive to the X80 Pro Max for the time being.
