Kleon said on the 19th that it is piloting a conversational AI station attendant at Seoul Station with Korail, using Samsung Electronics’ glasses-free 3D display, Spatial Signage. The AI figure on the three-dimensional screen converses with passengers in multiple languages in real time and provides information they need.
Kleon’s conversational AI technology understands users’ questions and the context of a conversation to respond in real time. It also generates nonverbal expressions such as facial movements, gaze and gestures. The company said combining the technology with a three-dimensional display creates an experience that feels like speaking face to face with a real person.
Kleon previously demonstrated an “AI concierge” using Samsung Spatial Signage in a hotel to provide information about the property and nearby tourist attractions. It is also exploring an “AI promoter” solution for retail stores and brand spaces, where it could support product explanations and customer service. Kleon said it improved real-time noise cancellation and its response pipeline to recognize speech reliably in noisy environments. It also said automatically generating videos from product images has made it more efficient to create content tailored to individual stores.
Kleon is preparing a service through Samsung Electronics’ cloud-based digital signage management platform, Samsung VXT (Visual eXperience Transformation), to help business customers adopt and operate conversational AI. Once the app is released on VXT, businesses will be able to add Kleon’s service through the platform’s “VXT Apps.” Kleon plans to support the deployment and operation of conversational AI content in stores and other spaces equipped with Samsung displays.
Kleon CEO Jin Seunghyuk said the Spatial Signage demonstration and preparations for the VXT service would enable retail experiences in which customers interact directly with AI on a screen. He said the company would seek conversational AI applications with global partners across a range of business-to-business settings. Founded in 2018, Kleon develops generative AI-based digital human technology, including solutions for real-time conversation and facial, voice and movement generation. It is pursuing commercial uses for digital humans in retail, education, customer service and public services.
