Korea Investment Securities plans to measure AI performance by business results and customer value, rather than user numbers, starting next year. It completed its AI environment in the first half of this year and reports 2,000 active internal AI users. Its AI market-analysis service on its mobile trading system (MTS) exceeded 10 million cumulative views in less than two months after launch.

The AI and Data Innovation Department under the firm’s Digital Innovation Division has more than 30 employees. It is building an environment for all employees to use AI in their work and applying it to business processes and customer services. Staff use an internally hosted generative AI platform on the company network and Google’s Gemini Enterprise on internet-connected external networks. They can also build AI agents tailored to their work.

The firm currently uses AI to draft review reports, generate sales scripts for products, and automatically respond to labor and tax inquiries. The company says it has seen shorter search, review, and report-writing times in research, IT, and risk departments. It plans to use optical character recognition (OCR, technology that reads text in images) to process large volumes of documents and analyze sales calls to check whether product sales comply with rules. Departments are also building and refining agents for annual-report analysis, draft replies to customer feedback, branch consultations, and research summaries.

The company’s policy is to handle customer and sensitive information with internally hosted AI in its network-separated environment, while using commercial AI mainly for general work. Even when AI identifies tasks that require judgment, the responsible employee retains the final decision and accountability. This year, the firm invested in organizing dispersed internal data so AI can use it for business. It plans to expand investment in work and customer services where results have been demonstrated.

Korea Investment Securities expects automation of repetitive tasks such as consultations, checks, and research to advance quickly in the short term. Over the medium to long term, it expects more customers to obtain information or place orders through their own AI without directly opening an app. The company said competition among securities firms may therefore shift from app screens to AI-powered customer access. It cited its MTS AI investment-information service and integration of AI with its open trading API as differentiators, saying it has a foundation for customers to access its services through whichever AI they use.

Next year, the firm plans to expand customer service beyond information delivery through conversational AI wealth management and move internal work support from pilot to full operations. It intends to use AI in company-wide workflows and customer services, while changing its performance measures from user counts to actual business results and customer value.
