LG Electronics’ AI Cooling Orders Top 3 Trillion Won
- •LG Electronics reported cumulative AI data center cooling orders above 3 trillion won in the third quarter, including long-term supply contracts.
- •The company will invest 220 billion won to expand cooling production, and NVIDIA approved its 600-kilowatt, 1-megawatt and 2.6-megawatt CDUs.
- •LG plans to open a data factory in Seoul in the fourth quarter for robot training data and AI collaboration.
LG Electronics said on a third-quarter 2026 earnings conference call that cumulative orders for its AI data center cooling solutions had exceeded 3 trillion won. That was up sharply from about 600 billion won in the first half. Chief Financial Officer Chang-tae Kim said the new contracts were long-term supply agreements, rather than one-off orders. The company is investing in production to meet the increased demand.
LG will invest 220 billion won to expand cooling equipment production capacity in South Korea and overseas. It plans to establish a production site in Virginia next year and build new production lines in Pyeongtaek and Changwon, South Korea. The company said it would increase capacity in stages as orders grow. Alongside its existing cooling equipment, LG is developing cooling distribution units (CDUs), which supply and regulate coolant for servers. Kim said NVIDIA approved CDU models rated at 600 kilowatts, 1 megawatt and 2.6 megawatts. LG plans to pursue more projects with higher-capacity products.
In robotics, LG is positioning actuators—devices that convert electricity into movement—as a core component. It built a pilot production line in Changwon in the first half and worked on equipment automation and quality and performance improvements in the second half. Kim said the company expects to improve cost and quality competitiveness and gain an advantage by establishing component standards early in the market’s development. LG is also seeking orders from prospective global customers.
LG outlined a robotics business that would supply training data and operating systems as well as components and finished products. In the fourth quarter, it plans to open the LG Data Factory in Umyeon-dong, Seoul, to collect and use data for training robots on a range of tasks. Kim said the facility would draw on expertise from manufacturing, homes and industrial sites to improve robot AI model performance and serve as a collaboration hub with domestic and overseas partners, including NVIDIA. Third-quarter consolidated revenue rose 8.9% year over year to 23.8241 trillion won, while operating profit increased 13.5% to 781.9 billion won.
