Google announced a statewide partnership with Missouri on September 8, 2026, to give classrooms and workforce programs no-cost access to Google AI tools, training curriculum and professional certificates. The partnership includes the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, and Google says it will reach nearly 100,000 educators and more than 1.1 million students across K-12 and higher education institutions.

Missouri public schools, colleges and universities will gain access to Gemini for Education and Gemini Notebook, which Google says can help educators generate differentiated lesson materials, summarize coursework and provide students with step-by-step instructional support. Google also cited research saying AI can save educators an average of 10 hours a week, giving them more time to support and mentor students.

The initiative also includes the Google AI Educator Series, a free training and credential program for teachers and administrators, plus Google AI Professional Certificate and Google Career Certificates in fields including AI, cybersecurity, data analytics and IT support. Governor Mike Kehoe said the partnership reflects Missouri's aim to use AI safely, ethically and transparently while preparing residents for high-growth, high-wage jobs.

Google said Gemini for Education conversations and data are private, protected by enterprise-grade security and not used to train Google's AI models. Adoption is voluntary, and each school district, college and university will decide if, when and how to use the tools. Google Career Certificates and Google AI courses will also be available at no cost to all Missouri residents through local Missouri Job Centers.
