OpenAI Ranks Korean Users Among Its Top Communities
  • •Korea ranks third worldwide for weekly dots users and among the top five for ChatGPT Pro users.
  • •More than 600 people attended OpenAI’s Seoul developer event, part of a program held in eight cities worldwide.
  • •OpenAI, LG CNS and AWS shared updates on Codex, AI agents and enterprise deployment strategies.

OpenAI’s AI assistant dots ranked third worldwide in weekly active users in South Korea, while the country ranked among the top five for ChatGPT Pro subscribers. Kyunghoon Kim, head of OpenAI Korea, disclosed the figures on the 22nd at OpenAI DevDay Exchange Seoul in Seoul’s Gangnam district and said Korean users showed strong interest in AI.

Kim said Korean developers’ experiences using AI are informing product improvements. Examples included Linux support for OpenAI Codex, the ability to work across multiple folders in one project, and improvements to mobile use. The event, intended to introduce OpenAI technology to developer communities worldwide, is being held in eight cities, including Seoul; more than 600 developers and industry figures attended the Korean event.

Albert Ip, OpenAI’s head of applied AI architecture, presented strategies for automating work with AI agents, connecting them through APIs, and expanding services with plugins. LG CNS emphasized linking enterprise context to AI services and building security systems, while AWS shared approaches to developing and operating AI agents in cloud environments.

Kim said OpenAI would continue engaging with South Korea’s developer community and support developers in turning ideas into products and services. Last month, OpenAI also said it planned to expand its Daybreak partnership, which provides access to an AI model specialized in cybersecurity, from public institutions to private companies.
