OpenAI and ServiceNow Expand Enterprise Partnership
- •OpenAI and ServiceNow expand their partnership across enterprise workflows and connect ServiceNow with ChatGPT and Codex
- •Planned integrations target application development, cybersecurity, voice workflows and interactive incident response within ChatGPT
- •ServiceNow plans employee access to ChatGPT Work and Codex; plugin is available, with other capabilities scheduled through 2027
OpenAI and ServiceNow are expanding their partnership to bring OpenAI models and agents into more ServiceNow products and connect its workflows with ChatGPT and Codex. The companies say the work will help businesses build applications, resolve IT requests and address security issues using AI. The expansion builds on a partnership announced in January.
A planned ServiceNow integration will let teams access business context and workflow actions inside ChatGPT. An IT worker could find similar incidents, assess the risk of a change and update a ServiceNow record in the same conversation. Customers will connect ChatGPT to their own ServiceNow instance and choose which capabilities to enable. ServiceNow’s Action Fabric applies existing business rules and permissions, keeping available actions aligned with each organization’s settings and access. ServiceNow is also previewing interactive ChatGPT experiences: an on-call engineer could review linked monitoring alerts, recent changes and affected services, assign a team and work toward a fix.
The companies plan capabilities in three areas. In application development, a planned Codex integration in ServiceNow’s AI Workflow Factory will help developers build applications using ServiceNow’s business context and platform; OpenAI models will also power Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer for application development and modernization. For cybersecurity, a joint solution will combine OpenAI’s cybersecurity capabilities with ServiceNow’s asset, identity and business context to help investigate vulnerabilities, prioritize risks and coordinate remediation. For voice, an OpenAI-powered feature in ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower will let users describe an AI use case aloud, populate assessment fields and answer follow-up questions to fill missing information.
ServiceNow plans to give all employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex, extending access beyond engineering. Engineers can use Codex to explore codebases, make changes and run tests; other teams can use ChatGPT Work in daily work. ServiceNow also plans to use OpenAI capabilities for internal security. OpenAI uses ServiceNow workflows in its own operations, supported by the Super Intelligence Control Tower.
The ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in the OpenAI marketplace. Enhanced capabilities are expected by the end of 2026. Voice features in the Control Tower are expected in the first quarter of 2027; OpenAI-powered security features are expected in early access in January 2027, with general availability planned for the second quarter of 2027. Codex in AI Workflow Factory is expected in 2027.
