Refersion Launches MCP Server for Affiliate Management
- •Refersion launched an MCP server connecting affiliate accounts to ChatGPT, Claude and other compatible AI assistants.
- •Merchants can query live data and authorize tasks including conversion approvals, commission fixes and affiliate prospecting.
- •Granular permissions, scope enforcement and account controls restrict assistant access to sensitive settings and actions.
Refersion announced the launch of an MCP server that connects affiliate marketing accounts to AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude. Merchants and agencies can ask questions in plain language, get answers from live account data and authorize assistants to take actions. Refersion CEO Ryan Hilliard said customers already use AI assistants and the server lets them manage affiliate programs there while controlling what assistants can see and do.
The server uses the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools, and runs on Refersion’s newest API. Each API endpoint becomes a tool, with new endpoints added automatically. Launch coverage includes affiliates, conversions, offers, orders, clicks, promotion methods, webhook endpoints and affiliate prospecting. Tasks include reviewing and approving conversions, tracking affiliate performance, screening applicants, resolving missing commissions, managing offers and finding potential partners. Users can ask follow-up questions in the same conversation, without a developer.
Agencies can connect multiple merchant accounts, including client accounts where they hold a team seat. The assistant handles one account at a time, identifies the active account and switches when asked without another sign-in. Refersion says this lets agencies repeat reviews across clients while keeping actions in the correct store.
Merchants choose permissions through a consent screen that separates access by area and by read or write; individual permissions can be unchecked. The API refuses requests outside the approved scope, so read-only access cannot approve or deny conversions. Tools identify whether they read, change or delete data, and supporting assistants request confirmation before deletions. Third-party assistants are marked unverified, connections appear in account settings and can be revoked at any time. AI assistants cannot access user management, credentials, payout settings or billing.
