Salesforce Named Leader in IDC Agentic AI Assessment
  • •Salesforce says IDC named it a Leader in the first Worldwide Agentic AI Platforms vendor assessment for 2026.
  • •IDC evaluated 25 vendors and cited Salesforce’s scale, controlled agent reasoning and data foundation among its strengths.
  • •Salesforce reported customer results including Vivint’s 20% resolution rate and Southwest Airlines’ $6 million projected annual savings.

Salesforce says it was named a Leader in the 2026 IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Agentic AI Platforms, the first vendor assessment of this market. IDC evaluated 25 vendors from enterprise applications, automation, data science, cloud infrastructure and frontier AI models. Salesforce says the recognition reflects Agentforce, its platform for AI agents grounded in customer data, with controls over their actions and enterprise scale.

IDC cited three strengths: Salesforce’s global presence, research and development capacity, enterprise distribution and association with trusted enterprise AI; hybrid reasoning with deterministic control; and a native data foundation. The Atlas Reasoning Engine and open-source Agent Script let teams set auditable, deterministic constraints for autonomous agents powered by large language models. Agentforce agents are built on Data 360 and Customer 360, with zero-copy federation to Snowflake, Databricks and BigQuery, avoiding extract-transform-load processes and cold-start context gaps.

Salesforce cited customer results from three companies. Vivint serves more than 2 million smart-home customers; its AVA agent has a 20% autonomous resolution rate, while chat volume grew by 28%. Vivint is extending AVA to phone calls with Agentforce Voice. Crocs built three agents in five months, including Rivet, a retail agent that recommends products using Data 360; Crocs runs Agentforce Commerce in more than 85 countries. Southwest Airlines unified more than 10 operational systems in Service Cloud and uses Agentforce, with $6 million in projected annual savings.

Salesforce says enterprise AI will depend on connecting agents with business data, workflows, employees and customers, alongside visibility and control. Chief Product Officer John Kucera said the company believes the IDC recognition reflects Agentforce’s foundation and the opportunity as more businesses become “Agentic Enterprises.” The assessment is an IDC framework comparing suppliers’ offerings, capabilities, strategies and market success factors using qualitative and quantitative criteria.
