Samsung held its Southeast Asian home-appliance tech seminar, The Brief, on the 14th in Hanoi, Vietnam, presenting AI appliances and business solutions adapted to local lifestyles. The event took place at the Business Experience Studio (BES) in Hanoi’s PVI Tower, which opened in August. BES displays Samsung products and solutions in a commercial setting. Media representatives and influencers from across Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore, attended.
Samsung demonstrated AI Vision, which uses a refrigerator camera to track ingredients as they enter and leave in real time. Frequently used ingredients are automatically saved to a database, and the refrigerator uses that information to notify users when they need to buy more. FoodNote analyzes a week’s ingredient use and provides a report, while “What Should I Eat Today?” recommends recipes based on what is in the refrigerator. Samsung also introduced Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM), through which specialists remotely assess a device’s condition and advise users on how to address issues. The company said Wi-Fi-equipped products will receive free software upgrades for up to 7 years.
For air conditioning, Samsung presented residential and commercial solutions designed for Southeast Asia’s hot, humid climate and local conditions. The residential Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Pro wall-mounted air conditioner controls airflow based on users’ routines and room layout. It includes Motion Blades, which adjust airflow direction by area, and a Motion Radar Sensor that detects a user’s location, activity level and absence.
Commercial products on display included the DVM S2 outdoor unit for system air conditioners in large buildings such as hotels and offices, as well as WindFree 1WAY and 4WAY ceiling cassette indoor units. Samsung also demonstrated SmartThings Pro, a business-to-business platform that connects air conditioners and other IoT devices and lets users monitor device status and energy use across multiple sites. Lee Sang-jik, a vice president in Samsung’s DA Business, said the company aims to provide practical value and convenience to Southeast Asian customers and business partners through AI technology and connectivity.
