Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and AI Singapore (AISG) are extending the AIxTech initiative to include final-year Information and Digital Technologies (IDT) students. Announced by Senior Minister of State Tan Kiat How on May 11, 2026, the program aims to upskill 40,000 tech professionals by 2029 through training in technical and responsible AI practices.
Developed in collaboration with over 30 tech firms and Institutes of Higher Learning, the curriculum focuses on hands-on coding, prompt engineering, context management, and agent development. The program also integrates training on mitigating risks like "context poisoning." This effort complements the National AI Impact Programme, which aims to train 100,000 non-tech professionals to be AI bilingual by 2029.
Additionally, IMDA welcomed 21 new SG Digital Leaders, growing the community to more than 1,600 leaders. The training is structured in two phases, featuring flexible online modules and expert-led support, designed to meet the demands of busy professionals.
