Steno, an AI-enabled court reporting and litigation support company, has launched the open beta of Litigation Genius, a product that works on case files. Completed Steno court reporting jobs automatically create a case in Litigation Genius populated with transcripts and marked exhibits, so teams start with the case rather than a blank slate.

Users can upload pleadings, medical records, financial documents, discovery responses and transcripts from other providers, or import them from Google Drive and Dropbox. Litigation Genius also reads handwritten notes and images, including screenshots and social media posts, alongside regular text documents, which the article describes as particularly noteworthy.

Responses are drawn from the case materials and include clickable citations to the exact file and page so users can check each one. The tool also builds an executive summary for each matter and a timeline that grows as the case develops. Guided prompting suggests questions drawn from each case file, and an Improve Prompt button refines a user's question to elicit more targeted answers.

According to the company, the new capabilities are built directly into the Steno Firm Dashboard and expand on Transcript Genius, letting litigation teams analyze deposition transcripts alongside the rest of their case files. Steno CEO Prabhdeep Singh said the product shows real value comes from technology integrated into existing workflows rather than complex software bolted onto a service, adding that because Steno transcripts and exhibits are already in the dashboard, Litigation Genius gives teams a running start on every case with a Steno deposition. An AL TV product walk-through of the tool is also available.
