The system combines n8n, an OpenAI Chat Model, conversational memory and Google Sheets tools.

When a user writes, for example, “I spent Rs.231 for Medicine today,” the agent extracts the description, amount and date, adds the record to a connected spreadsheet and replies with a natural-language confirmation. Its Read Expenses and Add Expense tools retrieve existing records and write new ones. The agent can also produce an on-demand categorized daily summary.

The paper says the system was implemented and tested with real conversational data. Its reported results show that it parsed free-form expense statements, updated the spreadsheet correctly and generated coherent, human-readable summaries. The authors say this reduces the friction associated with manual expense tracking.
