Wiv launched Wiv Air to help enterprises and managed service providers set and enforce budgets for AI spending across providers including OpenAI, Anthropic and Cursor. The platform lets organizations set spending limits and adjust access by department, team or employee while workers continue using tools they already rely on. It is available worldwide, including through AWS Marketplace.
Wiv Air connects to providers through their APIs rather than routing each request through a gateway or proxy. Wiv says this means it does not reroute AI traffic, require installed software agents or add request latency. It syncs with identity providers such as Microsoft Entra ID to associate usage with employees, teams and departments. Finance and business leaders can view usage, costs and remaining budgets together, including spending by the company’s own AI products.
The article cites a survey of nearly 400 businesses in which only 11% could accurately forecast AI spending. A separate KPMG survey found 26% of companies had full visibility into AI costs, while 22% had none and sometimes learned their usage only when bills arrived. Gartner predicts AI coding costs will surpass the average developer salary by 2028. Nearly a quarter of technology leaders already spend $200 to $500 per developer each month on tokens for coding agents, according to Gartner.
Gartner analysts recommend token thresholds, escalation policies and automated monitoring because developers may prioritize speed and convenience over cost. Wiv Air allows managers to set access policies tied to budgets: at 70% of an employee’s allocation, for example, it can restrict premium models while leaving lower-cost models available. At the spending cap, it can pause access through the provider’s API; controls can apply to an employee or an individual API key. Managers can also reassign unused budget among employees and teams.
Gartner expects model pricing to keep climbing as providers recover infrastructure investment, while agentic workloads increase the number of calls behind delegated tasks. The article says Wiv Air is intended to shift finance teams’ attention from last quarter’s AI bill to who may spend what on which model before tokens are consumed.
