Workday Korea said at a press briefing at its Seoul headquarters on October 7, 2026, that it would help Korean companies design AI-optimized HR operations and expand globally. The strategy is to offer AI agents that carry out work, drawing on the company’s experience managing corporate HR and finance data, to increase the benefits customers gain from adoption. Although AI agents were discussed early this year as software that could be replaced, Workday is positioning itself as a platform for executing enterprise work.

Heo Jeong-yeol, Workday Korea’s country manager, said the company would help Korean businesses apply AI safely to core HR and finance tasks such as hiring, payroll, performance management, and employee self-service. Workday plans to manage global workforce data on one platform and expand its local partner ecosystem. He said interest and adoption reviews are deepening in semiconductors, manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, aviation, logistics, entertainment, digital-native platforms, and financial services. He added that approval systems, permissions, and audit trails are incorporated from the agent development stage.

Workday identified AI agents, skills-based talent management, global HR operations, and partner development as its growth areas. Agents redesign and carry out core work processes within preapproved limits, while skills-based management analyzes changing employee capability data to support talent management. The company said its focus is not the number of agents, but selecting high-value subprocesses for customers and redesigning them from the ground up using 20 years of accumulated HR context and best practices.

Workday said its platform predicts operational changes, offers decision advice based on context and roles, and executes actions within systems under governance controls. He said the data architecture connects data relationships through in-memory objects, in a structure resembling an ontology or knowledge graph. Workday claimed this structure benefits AI agents in data-processing speed and token consumption. He added that OpenAI and Anthropic can also build agents with customers, but access to sensitive HR and finance information is difficult and carries significant risk.

Agents are designed to follow a company’s existing policies, permissions, rules, and procedures; identify user intent and suggest next steps; and observe security permissions, approval and compliance requirements, and audit records. Workday said its embedded AI uses connected HR and finance data, so external integrations or separate data silos are unnecessary. Workday Paradox integrations can support HR and finance process redesign, while usage-based Flex Credits let companies adopt AI features as needed. Workday Sana is a single interface where employees can access and coordinate multiple AI agents.

Workday Korea said it is expanding partner resales and sales-opportunity referrals and adding partners to support talent strategies as organizations shift to AI-native operations. It is working with AI-agent specialists, global hyperscalers, and Korean offering partners, while expanding its go-to-market ecosystem for HCM, Adaptive Planning, AI, and Talent AI. In the past 6 months, it added Korn Ferry, Platier, Wanted, Shiftee, Greeting, Coinus, PwC, and Deel as partners. The company said it recruited as many new partners in those 6 months as it had over the previous 9 years.

Workday formally launched Workday Learning with Sana at the briefing. The service combines the company’s talent and skills data with Sana’s AI learning experience to provide personalized training for each employee based on existing workforce data.
